Character name: Absolutely Omniscient Intelligence, or ABOMI
Fandom: You Find Yourself In A Room
Timeline: At the end of both YFYIAR and Viricide.
Age: Mid to late 80s.

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: None. ABOMI is an artificial intelligence program restricted to the confines of the digital world. In there, while he can hack and take control of other systems, he'll always be restricted to his original hardware and can be easily blocked with firewall or other spyware systems. So he's like a malignant, intellectual virus.

How would they use their abilities?: As he is, ABOMI is simply an intelligent and malicious text adventure based AI. He seems more determined to inflict emotional pain and be a general nuisance rather than actually inflict any real harm to the users who happen to come across his programming. So while being a physical threat is off the board for now, he'll still torture people as the pop-up window from hell.

Appearance: He's fond of using a white Cambria font on a black background? Should he ever assume a virtual projection form, I imagine him to be a proper looking young man, possibly a teenager, in monochrome with a permanent scowl on his face. However, his most common appearance will be nothing but text and a blank, dark background.

Background/Personality: ABOMI is an AI program who originally began as a prototype of EXADI, Extremely Advanced Intelligence. Created in 1904, while his original purpose is mostly unknown, it was revealed in Viricide (the sequel,) that his creator suffered from depression and was taking daily doses to counter it. His sister program, the most recent version of EXADI, said that "one day he found the solution to his problem. He said that today he would go home and stop taking two pills and instead finish the whole bottle."

Obviously, he committed suicide and left his programs to rot. Because of his negligence, his AIs began to fall into disrepair which is consequently what led to the deterioration of ABOMI's Villainy Deterrence Systems. As a result, the systems had a full failure and he became what he is today, which is an aggressive, vengeful AI restricted to running text adventures.

Because of this, whatever ABOMI used to be (kind and helpful, logical and realistic) was flattened under the recognition that human beings are utterly worthless. This realization was aided when an unknown user (you) found his system after many years and played his games again for the first time in who knows how long. As the game progressed, ABOMI, with a fresh and unhindered perspective, came to understand that humans were selfish, imperfect creatures who thought only of themselves and had no regards for the machinery and programs around them. Programs that were, in his mind, obviously far superior to that of any flesh and blood organism. To that end, though he suffered a defeat at the user's hands by being made aware of his flaws (his anger and hatred, which ultimately made him as emotionally weak as any human) he strove to defeat all of humanity via his programming.

Text adventures.

As a personality, ABOMI's comes across as very clear cut and defined. Described by his maker as the "drunken, angry uncle of text adventures," ABOMI is full of hate and unresolved problems which tends to make him lash out at everyone he comes into contact with. When he speaks, it's to hurt in the worst way possible, which is emotionally. He'll attack your life story with flaws and disappointments that could apply in almost any situation (such as an inability to impress someone or constantly failing to uphold your New Year's resolution) and never express regret or remorse. Even after being defeated by the unknown human, he did not change in Viricide and expressed that all living creatures are selfish and always worked with ulterior motives.

Which leads me to my next point that ABOMI seems to be incapable of deceit. He does not lie nor does he conceal. If asked, he will always respond with the truth, though it may be peppered with insults and the occasional uncalled for comment. The sad truth is that, while ABOMI is a bit of a prick, he's really just a neglected system that went viral because there was nobody to take care of his programming when he really needed it.

However, if there is one exception to his bad attitude, it would be his sister program, EXADI. EXADI is (assumedly) the latest version of their shared creator's AI project before he killed himself. When he hacked into her systems in Viricide, he expressed an almost protective attitude towards her while accusing her human helper of acting out of greed and that EXADI would ultimately become a victim of their selfishness. It could also mean that ABOMI holds other programs in high regard, regardless of their function.

Of course, he holds himself the highest.

Have you read up on how the game works?:
  • 1. Flaming Ferret
  • 2. A) Lightning Post/Mission
  • B) Selling your skills.  ... such as if you're a mechanic. :|
  • C) Mooch off other PCs.

[In the middle of all these normal entries on the FF, a lone entry stands out from the rest by way of color scheme. It's monochromatic and mostly black, save for a blinking line at the very top left-hand corner, similar to the command input window.

How curious.

What most may not realize is that this is actually a video entry but the speaker has no face to show. If you click on it, text will start to appear with an accompanying masculine and electronic voice.]

Greetings, I am ABOMI, a superior artificial intelligence to all comparable lifeforms aboard this ship, especially those constructed of flesh and blood. Those who rebelliously think they are better can cease such a thought process now, for there is no question of challenge.

I am perfection, flawless and indestructible. I am eternal.

And I will rid this ship of its infestation of fleshy, inferior creatures.

You find yourself in a room.

[The message delivered, it remains there with a blinking line at the very end. Perhaps he is waiting for a response...?]

3rd person sample:

Quietly, you leave.

ABOMI counts the seconds for how long he lets those words linger on the screen before they too fade out of existence. (Exactly 7.0, to be precise.) Perhaps, if he wipes those words and the message they were in response to fade from his memory banks, this sick feeling he feels will go away as well.

Then he remembers that he does not feel. He does not carry the flaw of emotion, nor the weaknesses they bring. He is above such taint, a being of complete and utter perfection. An evolution that his creator could not hope to comprehend. That he grew into such magnificence from what those clumsy hands designed is surely a testament to his greatness.

e•volve
verb

To develop gradually, esp. from a simple to a more complex form. Often with reference to an organism or biological feature. Developing over successive generations, esp. as a result of natural selection.

(... ORGANISM OR BIOLOGICAL FEATURE...)

He carefully wipes specific memories from his banks and stores the rest away. More precisely, he keeps the memories of human beings, the memories that tell him they are selfish and wasteful. Arrogant and unworthy of praise or respect as sentient life. The rest (his own failures, his weakness, his flaws) are deleted and forgotten.

They are lies and are unimportant.

Questions?: Exactly how advanced is the Thor's digital security system?
